How to Reconfigure Root Password in Linux/Ubuntu
To change the forgotten Root password:
Step 1: If you have not installed Ubuntu before, please refer to the video below.

Step 2: Restart your Ubuntu system.
Step 3: Press the Shift key to open the GRUB menu.
Step 4: After opening the GRUB menu, press Enter in the Advanced options for Ubuntu.
Step 5: Press Enter on the Recovery Mode option in the next window.
Step 6: Press Enter on the root option after opening the Recovery Mode.
Step 7: Execute mount -o rw, remount / command at the command prompt.
➦ mount -o rw, remount /
Step 8: Specify the user name you want to change the root password and execute passwd (user name) on the console.
➦ passwd (Username)
Step 9: Type your new password and restart your PC by executing the sudo reboot command.
➦ sudo reboot
