How to Install VMware Workstation in Kali Linux

To install VMware Workstation on Kali Linux:

Step 1: If you have not installed Kali Linux before, please refer to the video below.

Step 2: After installing Kali, one of the first things you need to do is install the VMware Workstation virtualization program.

Step 3: To download VMware 15 Pro to your computer, visit the link below.

Step 4: After downloading VMware 15 to your computer, open Terminal in Kali and run the following command to edit the sources.list.

➦ nano /etc/apt/sources.list

Add the following addresses to Sources.list and save the file.

deb kali-rolling main non-free contrib
deb-src kali-rolling main non-free contrib
deb kali-rolling main non-free contrib

Step 5: After editing the Sources.list, run the command “apt-get update” in Terminal to update the Kali repositories.

➦ apt-get update

Step 6: You need to install dependent packages to install VMware on Kali. In order to run VMware Workstation in Kali, run the following command in Terminal to install the dkms package.

➦ apt-get install dkms build-essential

Step 7: To start the installation, go to the location of the VMware.bundle file in Terminal.

Step 8: Execute the “chmod +x VMware-Workstation-Full.bundle” command in Terminal to make the VMware-Workstation-Full-15.bundle file executable.

➦ chmod +x VMware-Workstation-Full-15.0.0-10134415.x86_64.bundle

Step 9: Execute “./VMware-Workstation-Full.bundle” to do the installation.
